About Us
Cape Gem is the sole importer to the UK of a number of talented independent jewellery designers based in Cape Town. Each designer is exclusive to us in the UK - you will not see their pieces anywhere on the high street - or off the high street except through us. We are very proud of their individuality, their expressiveness and integral to our values is the fact that unlike a lot of mass produced pieces today, they are all ethically hand produced in South Africa.
Cape Gem is run by owner Carol Lovell, from her home in North Hertfordshire. It has been in business now for 6 years and has a reputation for jewellery that is elegant, casual and affordable. You can be sure that you will receive the best service from Carol who manages the business both personally and professionally. Carol only buys pieces that she would wear herself and has an eye for necklaces and bracelets that are eye poppingly attractive and durable at the same time. Her aim is to provide items of jewellery that can be worn all year round that don't break the bank! Her mantra is "elegant, individual, casual and cool but not costly".
TROVE is part of Cape Gem - Carol wanted a vintage collection to complement the daily casual elegance of the Cape Gem range, but wanted to buy in this country.
Looking for these pieces is a pleasure for Carol. She seeks them out in the oddest spots and it requires much rummaging and often fruitless expeditions. She buys only pieces that she would wear myself, much like the Cape Gem jewellery. Plus, again, it has to be individual, special but affordable. We hope you love it as much as we do.
